FareShare Hull and Humber is operated by the charity Goodwin Development Trust under a partnership agreement with Fareshare UK.

Under this agreement we gain access to surplus food from industry partners across the UK and benefit from food safety, logistics and strategic development from the Fareshare UK team. Goodwin Development Trust bares the operational and financial risk of running the service, employing staff, operational running costs and recruiting and supporting our fantastic volunteers. We aim to maximise the benefit of surplus food to our Community Food Members and their beneficiaries through minimising our membership rates. This is only achievable through additional financial support from the public, corporate partners and public agencies.

Hull City Council

ull City Council are one of our most significant partners. In 2019 they awarded us a grant of £200,000 over the following 4 years. Throughout 2019 -21 this covered our Warehouse rental costs at Malmo Food Park. Since relocation to Bergan Way in April 2021 the grant will be used to help absorb operational running costs and ensure that we continue to deliver surplus food to Hull based members at a discounted rate.

WRAP Fund

The Waste Resource Action Program awarded us a grant of £90,000 in November 2020 under their COVID 19 Emergency Surplus Food Redistribution programme that enabled us to purchase and additional delivery vehicle, rent additional temporary Warehouse space and staffing. At the end of September 2021 this helped us to more than double the volume of surplus food we distributed – all throughout lockdown.

Cranswick

Cranswick has supported FareShare Hull & Humber for 5 years supplying us with excellent quality surplus meat. They have been heavily involved in supplying Hull City Council Healthy Holiday programme feeding children during the school holidays who receive free school meals.

East Riding Voluntary Service

In 2020 East Riding Voluntary Service provided us with the BREXIT fund, which allowed us to support 10 organisations within the East Riding of Yorkshire with a free 1-year membership.

Co-Op

Co-Op supported FareShare throughout the pandemic by supplying us with additional long life ambient to support our members, and by providing funding which allowed us to set up temporary free memberships during lockdown for smaller organisations across the region who were running food banks.

Healthy Lifestyles

We have a great relationship with the Healthy Lifestyles team in Hull, who often use our food to promote healthy eating to the families that they support. We also supply food for the Healthy Holidays programme that is run each summer for children who may face food poverty when they aren’t receiving a free school meal.
